I really resonated with this Mary Magdalene project. I became obsessed with her and her story through this photographic journey.

One night, in my tub of inspiration, in a meditative state, I called upon Mary Magdalene. I asked her, “If I was your vessel and you could give the world a message, what would it be?”  I got the word “Whole”.

I took it to mean: after all she’d experienced in the waking world; all she suffered and was accused of ; all judgment and misunderstanding of her ; all that Jesus celebrated her for; her devotion, wisdom and passion as an equal; has come to be her “wholeness.”

She is the missing piece of the “whole”.  The yin to the yang. She is the divine feminine and it is her turn to shine!

It reminds me of the Pink Floyd song:  “Shine on You Crazy Diamond”

“C’mon you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend and martyr and Shine!

The first image of my story is a B/W 20x30 glicee’ canvas wrap, called “Devotion”.  Mary is in enchanted nature walking up the stone steps to the light. She appears on earth as an angel. She is searching to find her place here. The weight of her past is heavy in her heart, but the glow of hope is leading her on.  Showing pure devotion to her greatest calling.

My second piece is a triptych of 3- b/w images on a 23x30 wooden panel fused with wax, called “Enlightenment”

In the first image, she appears as the divine goddess bringing light through the darkness. In the 2nd image she appears to the child as mother earth, guardian angel. She shares her stories and wisdom to be passed on to the next generation. She blesses the child with her divine knowledge and love. In the 3rd image, the child has been anointed with a wreath to celebrate the beauty of nature; a red egg to symbolize rebirth, and a rosary around her wrist, representing the unconditional love of Christ.  I fused this with wax to symbolize cohesion of spirit.

My third piece is a 20x30 color photograph, hand painted on the surface with oils, is called “Shine”.

Mary Magdalene is awakened and dancing in the divine light. It is her turn to shine as well as our time to shine! She is the missing piece of the puzzle to oneness. As the world shifts in this new paradigm, Mary shows us that she is the light- and so we are the light of the divine feminine. We are called forth to unite the world and live as one….”Whole”.  The powerful yin has given sustenance and strength to the weary yang. Let the awareness and awakening of Mary Magdalene ignite the divine light in us all. We are one. Shine on!
