For the last 15 years as an independent photographer, I have made images based on my daily life, as well as through the “revisitation” of images, playing on the ambiguity of epochs and their differing codes – ambiguity in time, place, and gender. My work has evolved in different directions: nudes, war photography, or at times rather more in the style of a diary. Thus, differing directions, but with a singular perspective and approach: in my work it is the subject that practically dictates the manner of photographing, a subject that I try to anchor in a landscape, its decorum.
Series: in the last few years I have also become interested in series based on the repetition of a motif, over a long period of time, as though the image could be remade at will: "les odalisques", "figures de proue" and "appareil photo".
Magdalena: for this competition, I chose three images from my archives, forming a modern triptych with ancient roots. |
